(ТОВ «Файр Поінт»)
Overview
Fire Point is a private Ukrainian defense company founded in 2022. It makes the FP-1 and FP-2 long-range strike drones and the FP-5 Flamingo cruise missile, and is developing the FP-7 and FP-9 ballistic missiles. According to the company, its drones carry out about 60% of Ukraine's strikes on Russian territory. The company has also been named in anti-corruption investigations by NABU.
History
Fire Point was founded in 2022, after Russia's full-scale invasion. Its founders had no background in the defense industry: according to The New York Times, before the war the company worked as a casting agency for film and television. In 2022 it had 18 employees. The team concluded that long-range drones are technically simple but expensive because of traditional defense procurement, and set out to build a cheap mass-produced aircraft.
Work on the FP-1 began in late 2022. The first prototype flew in January 2023, the drone was codified in May 2023, and in August 2023 the company received its first government contract. Between February and November 2024 Fire Point signed 19 contracts worth about UAH 20 billion. Revenue grew from UAH 168 million in 2023 to UAH 4.8 billion in 2024. By early 2026 the workforce exceeded 3,500, and production is spread across dozens of secret sites in and around Kyiv.
Products
The main product is the FP-1 long-range strike drone, which costs about $55,000. It hits targets up to 1,600 km away and carries a 50–120 kg warhead. In 2025 the company said it was producing up to 100 FP-1s per day. According to the Ukrainian military, these drones account for about 60% of strikes on Russian territory. The shorter-range FP-2 is designed for targets about 200 km away and carries a heavier warhead.
In August 2025 the company publicly unveiled the FP-5 Flamingo cruise missile, with a range of up to 3,000 km and a warhead of about one tonne; it was first used in combat that same month. In September 2025, at the MSPO exhibition in Poland, Fire Point presented the FP-7 and FP-9 ballistic missiles. The FP-7, with a range of up to 300 km, was tested in February and June 2026; CEO Iryna Terekh said it was expected to be combat-ready by the end of September 2026. The FP-9, with a range of up to 850 km, is expected by the end of 2026.
Missile defense and the Denmark plant
In June 2026 Fire Point announced the FP-7.x interceptor for the European Freyja missile defense system. Germany's Hensoldt became a partner in the project, and talks were also held with Thales, Leonardo and Kongsberg. The company expects a single intercept to cost less than $1 million and plans its first intercept of a ballistic target by the end of 2027.
The company is also building a solid rocket fuel plant in Denmark, near Skrydstrup Air Base. In September 2025 the Danish government temporarily suspended more than 20 laws to speed up construction. The plant is meant to produce fuel and motor casings for the Flamingo, FP-7 and FP-9. In August 2026 the company said the building it had bought did not meet safety requirements. The investment grew from €50 million to €150 million, and the launch was postponed to the end of 2027.
Ownership
Speaking to a temporary investigative commission of the Verkhovna Rada in May 2026, Denys Shtilerman said he owns 97.5% of the company and Yehor Skalyha 2.5%, while about 30 managers and engineers hold options on 15%. Shtilerman valued the company at about $6 billion. Earlier, the UAE's EDGE Group offered $760 million for a 30% stake, but in January 2026 the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine did not approve the deal.
